Spectra Engineering & Research, Inc. (SER) was founded in 1989 by Mr. Peter Okonkwo, M.S., P.E. with the vision of integrating multidisciplinary academic training with cutting-edge technology, experience and professionalism in designing projects for both public and private sector clients.
SER is one of North and Central Florida’s leading civil engineering, environmental engineering, site planning and land surveying firms. SER is a full service firm with offices in Tallahassee and Orlando, Florida. SER’s professional staff of engineers, surveyors, project managers, environmentalists, CADD technicians and administrators bring a wealth of expertise and experience in site and development engineering, roadway and highway design, infrastructure planning, environmental and stormwater design, water and waste water systems design, environmental permitting, construction administration and land surveying.

Leadership in the community is an unending pursuit for Spectra Engineering and Research. Peter Okonkwo, the president and CEO is a proud graduate of the 22nd Class of Leadership Tallahassee, a program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. He is also an alumnus of the City of Tallahassee’s Citizen Neighborhood Leadership Academy.
Spectra Engineering and Research has consistently supported the communities in which we live and work. The corporation has maintained ongoing financial assistance to community, economic and social support programs. Spectra is an active member the Capital City Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, the Southside Rotary Club and various neighborhood and civic organizations.
In addition to those organizations, Spectra is proud to support fund raising efforts throughout the year for numerous charitable, educational and community programs with both in-kind and monetary assistance.
Citizens for Student Academic Improvement was founded in 1993. Since that time the organization has provided mentoring and monetary awards for achievement excellence to secondary school students.
Citizens for Youth Academic Improvement (CYAI) is a non-profit organization founded by the President and CEO of Spectra Engineering and Research, Mr. Peter Okonkwo. Recently the foundation began working with the Gadsden County School District to introduce the program for the first time to that community.
The organization provides mentoring, motivational activities and awards to help students excel in math and science studies. Students, parents, teachers and administrators have praised the work of CYAI in helping to improve the science and math performance of targeted youngsters.
